Coverage by Sports Editor Will Kowalski
Congrats to coach Nate Burns’ Pennfield High boys’ basketball team. The No. 10-ranked Panthers just defeated No. 7-ranked Williamston 56-53 at Williamston HS, as PHS won its first MHSAA regional championship in boys’ hoops since the 1970s. PHS advances to next Tuesday’s 7 pm MHSAA D-2 quarterfinal at Chelsea HS against unranked Romulus Summit Academy (20-1). Congrats again Panther Nation, and stay tuned to the BC Shopper News and its Facebook page for future info and coverages.
Also, girls’ basketball note: Athens saw its season end Wednesday night when it lost to host Fowler in an MHSAA D-4 regional title game.
